Look Out For The Puffin Sculptures!

One of the most universally loved birds for children and adults alike absolutely has to be the gorgeous little puffin. They’re so affable and comical, with their charmingly round pot bellies and brightly coloured beaks… of course they’ll always be a favourite among birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts!

And the good news for anyone coming to East Yorkshire who just happens to be a huge fan of these beautiful birds is that there is now a puffin sculpture trail for you to discover this summer, with 42 decorated birds now taking up residence along the coast.

Between now and the end of October, you’ll be able to make your way around this beautiful part of the great British countryside, looking out for the 1.5m tall puffins as you move from Bempton and Flamborough all the way to Easington, Kilnsea, Bridlington, Hornsea, Beverley, Withernsea, Cottingham and Hull.

Co-director of the Puffins Galore! campaign Rick Welton was quoted by Great British Life as saying: “We’ve been delighted by the generous response from local businesses keen to sponsor their puffin.

“Puffins seem to be everybody’s favourite bird, and the wildlife themes in particular have really inspired some wonderful designs from artists. We had over 150 designs submitted from artists across East Yorkshire but also from much further afield.”

So there you have it! Yet another amazing reason to come and see what East Yorkshire has to offer! You can also see real-life puffins if you head to the nature reserve at Bempton Cliffs, so make sure you put that at the top of your to-do list, as well.
